Introduction
This page is the start page to wood working and turning hints. Follow the menu items above or to the right to check out various workshop ideas. You'll find things organized under various titles that will help you locate things easier.
I really like to explore jigs and fixtures to make life in the workshop simpler and more efficient. Everyone has their own ideas and what works for one person does not always work for someone else.
Some things I can't improve on. Here is a great treatise on making your own tools. Its not mine but check it out at Wood Central. Of course there are many other sources. For lots more check out the links on this site.
What works for you may not work for me...
I like to do "faceplate" work, though I seldom use an actual faceplate since the advent of the woodturners chuck. I have several chucks, the best one being a Oneway Stronghold. Some others are equiped with extended jaws to hold work when cleaning up bottoms. One I use with various removable jaws for specialty projects.
Quality Control
Most of my pieces pass through the hands of the Quality Control Officer, or She Who Must Be Obeyed. If roughness exists SWMBO will find it and bring it to my attention - without fail.
Thank you Janet!
Safety
Always follow all manufacturers safety instructions before working with your lathe, or any of the tools or products you may use. If you are unsure about any operation, obtain competent professional instruction before proceeding. Use and wear all necessary safety devices during turning and observe safe woodturning practices to prevent accident or injury. Of course, I take no responsibility for devices that you have made using my ideas.
